On April 16th further wine tasting was carried out at the Galeria Gemelli Restaurant in Lisbon. The tasting brought together the wines Brites Aguiar and Bafarela from Casa Brites Aguiar.

Brites Aguiar holds a 25% stake in DFE, a company which brings together the determination of 4 producers from the Douro.

All in all, the group has 92 hectares of vines and three of the production facilities are located in the sub-region of Cima Corgo in the borough of Lamego.

The fact that the exposures and soils are very variable, combined with the diversity of regional grape varieties is an important benefit, as it allows the selection of the best grapes from the various estates, bearing in mind the climatic characteristics for each year.

The three variants of DFE, the Classic (white and red), Premium (red Reserve) and Signature (Grand Reserve Red) have already been presented this year on markets such as Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Germany and Canada.

Recently, the producer presented Bafarela 17 Grand Reserve 2009 in Lisbon and brought together at the table a restaurant in the capital some of the aficionados of the wine from all over the country  in a group which included three priests, two Criminal Police officers, a Council leader, lawyers, businessmen, architects and constructors. It is the “Bafarela family”, people who joined together in fellowship around the wine as if it were the "holy grail" and who make true pilgrimages to the estate where the wine came about and is made.
